Taal Volcano

One of the Philippine tourist spots very popular among tourists is Tagaytay, located in the province of Cavite. It is the home of the famous Taal Lake and Volcano that never fails to impress local and foreign visitors---no matter how many times it is visited. Just less than two hours away from Metro Manila, various people flock Tagaytay City in the hopes of escaping the busy and chaotic city life for just a weekend and have a taste of nature and beauty of the Philippines.

As said above, Tagaytay is the home to the famous Taal Lake and Volcano, which is dubbed as a lake within an island within a lake. For those who want to have an adventure, tourists can ride a boat going to the volcano itself and have a picture near the crater. If you prefer to take a full picture of the volcano and lake from afar, there are many places to go to. Despite being one of the most active volcanoes in the country, looking at the Taal Volcano from all angles is something that people look forward to in Tagaytay.

Two of the places in Tagaytay you can go to view the Taal Volcano and Lake are the People’s Park in the Sky and Picnic Grove. The People’s Park in the Sky is located in one of the high hills of Tagaytay and is one of the resthouses of Former President Ferdinand Marcos during his reign---but is now owned by the government. You have to walk up a pathway to reach the house, which is now abandoned and houses some few stores to cater to the tourists. Despite being abandoned and not given proper care, it is one of the most visited places in the city because of the great view it gives to everyone. Not only will you see the whole Taal Lake and Volcano, but you can almost see the whole of Tagaytay. The Picnic Grove is located below People’s Park and is located nearer to the lake. Here, you can do various activities such as zipline, horseback riding, nature tour or ride a boat towards the volcano. There are also various stores where you can buy foods and lay a blanket on the grass to have picnic.

When it comes to accommodations, there are various hotels that you can pick in Tagaytay. If you want to wake up with nature, you can always get hotels that are overlooking the Taal Volcano and Lake such as Days Hotel, Estancia Hotel and One Tagaytay. But if you prefer to leave seeing the Volcano on tours or by traveling the city, you can get hotels on the other side of the road. Despite not overlooking the lake, hotels such as Hotel Kimberly still have great ambiance and a homey feel. For the hotel owners of Tagaytay, it is very important for them to have their guests feel comfortable and relaxed. 

When it comes to food, Tagaytay boasts of numerous delicious restaurants and bars that will make your stay enjoyable and memorable. One of them is the Josephine Restaurant Tagaytay located in the main road and known to serve delicious and mouth-watering foods. They have buffet menus and serve the best Filipino dishes you can think of. And since it is located near the lake and is made of glass, you will always see the beautiful Taal Lake and Volcano while you enjoy your meals. It also has a garden where you can relax and take pictures with family and friends with the Volcano and Lake at the background.
